Records of the dates, actors, types of violence, locations, and
fatalities of all reported political violence and protest events in
Nigeria.. The main perpetrators of political violence have been Boko
Haram, an armed Islamist group, mostly active in Northern
and Central Nigeria, who seek to establish a Wahhabi Islamic
state in Nigeria and the region. Political conflicts in Nigeria also exist between local and
regional communities, especially prevalent in the Middle Belt.
The objectives of this project is to use visualizations to response to the following questions:
1) Are the violence in Nigeria by the various actors related?
2) Do we have territorial interest by the various attacks?
3) Possibility to predict possible violence in certain regions by certain attackers?
4) Are there regions which could me mapped as danger zones for tourists?
5) How is the conflict distributed throughout the country?
